Nu-Guard® 31 Steel Post Guardrail - style and security for new FIVE MILE township

Set in the foreground of the Remarkables in Queenstown, some of New Zealand’s loveliest surroundings, stage one of the FIVE MILE Retail Centre has been completed by Naylor Love.

This exciting new retail and commercial offices development sets the standard going forward for the development of the Frankton Flats following a long period of planning and consenting process.

Stage one of the FIVE MILE township which was developed by Queenstown Gateway 5 Mile Ltd and includes 26,000m² of complex with 25 tenants in five buildings.

“As part of the development there is a large 8,800m² underground carpark, with a ramp that comes off a Council road and winds down to the carpark,” says Kirk Pullar, Site Engineer for Naylor Love, the main contractor for the development. “To complete the road we couldn't use a standard pedestrian barricade as there is quite a drop off to one side and, with vehicles exiting the Council road, the barrier had to be substantial. HCG, as the consultant, specified the small footprint of CSP’s Nu-Guard® 31 Steel Post Guardrail and the Nu-Guard® 31 bolt down post.”

“The initial drawings looked simple, however it became apparent that it was a little more complicated as there is a vertical and horizontal curve in one run to contend with,” explains Will Young, Sales Engineer for CSP. “Our design team worked with the contractor’s engineer and the complications were sorted. Naylor Love did a great job with the installation - we used the Nu-Guard® 31 Bolt Down Steel Posts which would have been challenging to install as the barrier curves and drops.”

“Although this is a small part of the overall development, CSP helped and worked well with our guys to get it right,” adds Kirk. “It also looks good, but mainly it keeps shoppers safe.”
